FAQs I'm a new player looking for a division and team to join... Just check the division list, figure out what division would best suit you taking into account field location and division bars, and then register to play in that division. Once on the mailing list (automatic upon registration) the division can tell you when upcoming pickup games and happy hours are so that you can meet other players. [Back to top]
I have a group of people who would like to play together on a team... Find the best division for you and register to play in that division. Create a group, tell your friends that group name and have them join you. Groups can be added to teams together so that you can play with your friends. (Due to space limitations there are no guarantees that there will be room for your group. However, divisions will do their best to place you on a team.) [Back to top]
I have an entire team of people who would like to join a division... Find the best division for your team (that has a team spot available) and register to play in that division. The registration process will allow you to pick your team name, and then you can tell your friends what team name to register under. [Back to top]
How many people are on a team/is a certain percentage of men/women required? Each team shall have one Captain and one Co-Captain who are jointly responsible for the team. Teams are encouraged to hold rosters of at least 18 members and may be filled to 26 players through the addition of free agents by the division. (People often take vacations, work travel, and have other pursuits that make them miss games. Teams of 26 players rarely forfeit games thus keeping play consistent, fun, and worthwhile for all. Remember this is a social organization.) Teams must field at least 8 and no more than 11 players. WAKA Kickball is a co-ed league and thus teams must field a minimum of 4 players of each sex. When do games start/when are they played? The start date depends on the division and the season. Kickball games last five innings and for many divisions, are played in the early evening on weekdays (after work for most). (Some divisions play on the weekend - check your division's web page for specific information.) For weekday play, typical game scenarios are two separate games played on each of two fields - one early game at around 6:00 or 6:30 pm and a later game around 7:00 or 7:15 pm. Field location and days of play varies with each division. [Back to top]

How come I don’t get emails sent to me from kickball.com email addresses including staff and division newsletters Despite tireless efforts by the kickball.com technical team, Verizon.net refuses to work with WAKA to accept emails from our email server. If you know any kickball enthusiasts, players or friends who use Verizon.net email addresses please suggest they use an alternate address to receive emails from WAKA. They should go to kickball.com/mywaka, login and update their email address to any non-verizon.net address. WAKA will continue to improve their processes and good netizenship by working to refuse the sending and receipt of spam throughout our network, and to comply with all readily available and manageable anti spam requirements of major email and ISP providers everywhere. Other Specific Information and FAQs Much of this specific information comes from the Official Rules of Kickball. Please read and become familiar with the rules on the WAKA web site before the start of the season.
WAKA does not charge your credit card until ALL of the following items occur (delayed debit for your protection); 1) you are placed on a team, 2) you are approved to a team by a captain or registration chair, 3) the division has a location to play, 4) the division has enough players. When registering you agree to be charged by this delayed debit process, and you agree to WAKA’s no refund policy.
Every WAKA participant must be 21 years or older as of the first day of division games, have adequate current health insurance, and be officially registered with WAKA.
To date, all WAKA divisions are self-refereed. This means that the division may ask volunteers from each team to referee games. Pursuant to the Official Rules of Kickball, "referees will be designated and furnished for games as provided for by the division." Teams in divisions that require refereeing, who do not provide referees, may incur penalties as assigned by the Division Board of Directors (generally, penalties include team forfeits).
Referees may call off games and must do so if lightning is seen. All games that are called off will be rescheduled if possible. Referees may penalize a player, including game ejection, for un-sportsman like conduct. The division Board of Directors may consider other penalties for players and teams if necessary.
Kickball team names may not contain reference or implication to political agenda, issue, candidates, elected officials, religion, or overt alcohol, drug, or sexual reference. The local division Board of Directors may decide against team names for any reason. WAKA Central retains the ultimate right to reject or accept any and all team names.
Each team will receive a uniform of a specific color which must be worn during play. Players registering less than four weeks before the start of games will receive a playkickball.com uniform. Division restaurants reserve the right to refuse specials or discounts to WAKA participants who are not in uniform at the restaurant. Athletic shoes are required for play. Metal cleats are not allowed. WAKA is an amateur league and does not allow professional athletes. [Back to top]
